Multi-domain SSL

Several domains.
One certificate.

A multi-domain (SAN) certificate groups different domains, such as yourcompany.es, yourcompany.com and yourbrand.eu, into a single certificate that is issued and renewed once.

How it works

Different names,
one place to manage them.

01

Different domains

Unlike a wildcard, it supports names that don’t share a main domain.

02

Expandable names

It includes a set number of names and lets you add more; changing the list reissues the certificate.

03

DV or OV

It validates control of each domain and, if you choose, the organisation’s identity.

04

One renewal

All names share the same expiry date and renewal policy.

It’s for you if…

Is a multi-domain certificate right for you?

  • You run the same website or service under several extensions.
  • You manage different brands on the same infrastructure.
  • You want fewer certificates to keep track of.
You don’t need it if…
  • Your names are subdomains of the same domain: look at a wildcard.
  • Each domain is managed by a different team with its own cycle.

Frequently asked questions

What people usually ask us.

How many domains fit on a multi-domain certificate?
It depends on the product. It usually includes a few names and lets you add more at extra cost; we set out the terms before issuing.
What’s the difference between SAN and wildcard?
A wildcard covers subdomains of a single domain; a multi-domain certificate covers different domains. Some products combine both.
How long is an SSL certificate valid for?
Less and less. Under a CA/Browser Forum agreement, the maximum validity has been 200 days since 15 March 2026; it drops to 100 days in March 2027 and to 47 days in March 2029. That’s why DAEMON treats renewal and reissuance as a continuous process, not a once-a-year chore.
