With a maximum validity of 200 days and falling, automated renewal is no longer optional.

- Does a wildcard also cover the main domain?
- It depends on the product: many wildcards include yourdomain.com as well as *.yourdomain.com. We confirm it before issuing.
- Is there a free wildcard certificate?
- Yes: Let’s Encrypt issues free DV wildcards validated via DNS. DAEMON can issue and renew them automatically. A paid one makes sense if you need organisation validation (OV) or a commercial warranty.
- How long is an SSL certificate valid for?
- Less and less. Under a CA/Browser Forum agreement, the maximum validity has been 200 days since 15 March 2026; it drops to 100 days in March 2027 and to 47 days in March 2029. That’s why DAEMON treats renewal and reissuance as a continuous process, not a once-a-year chore.
